Day 1 - Proverbs Chapter 1

Thank you so much for joining us for the 31 Day Proverbs Challenge.

Over the next 31 days different pastoral staff will be sharing their observations and thoughts about the daily readings. Our prayer is that these thoughts will serve as a catalyst to stir our thinking together. We would love to hear what you’re learning and how God is speaking to you during this time.

Proverbs 1:8-9 really stood out to me this morning.

“Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. There will be a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.”

I remember when I was a teen I felt God’s Word existed to somewhat “imprison” me. I thought it primarily was about all the things I wouldn’t be allowed to do. And I approached the Word with a certain fear and doubt.

But I was so far from the truth then. God’s Word and these Proverbs actually exist to set me free so that I can experience more of life and all of life. God wants to give us His wisdom and it will be a “garland to grace your neck.” It’s a gift.

The 31 chapters of the book of Proverbs paint a picture, a vision, of what life could be like in all of its fullness and abundance if we were to only trust Him. If we were to listen to His voice, His instructions. If only we’ll pursue His wisdom. Find it and get it, we will know that there is so much more to this life.

Is there a cry in your heart that says ‘There must be more’?
