Day 6 - Proverbs 6

“Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, like a bird from the snare of the fowler. (v5)”

Imagine the aforementioned scenario with me. A gazelle or a bird, either enticed or just plain blind, caught in a net.

Imagine the struggle that ensues to rid itself of its bonds. Twisting and turning, fluttering, kicking and biting just to find a way out!

So too does this proverb instruct us to do when we realize that we are either in or heading into folly. Struggle to get out and don’t resign yourself to an unfortunate chain of events!

Flee from the net of lust (v25), sluggishness (v9) and foolishness (v32)! Flee from the net of dissension (v14), deceit (v17) and a corrupt mouth (v12)!

How are you dealing with your words, thoughts and actions that may not be pleasing to God? Don’t resign yourself to these things or patterns, rise up and fight!

May you be blessed with wisdom and foresight to evade the little snares and nets that come your way this day. Seek out the Father of truth and let Him light the way.
